Upon successful completion of the Certified Welding Safety Manager (CWSM) course, participants will be able to:
Understand and apply OSHA regulations, ANSI Z49.1, and NFPA 51B requirements related to welding, cutting, brazing, grinding, and hot work operations.
Identify welding hazards, fire risks, electrical hazards, hazardous atmospheres, and confined space hazards associated with hot work activities.
Conduct comprehensive welding hazard assessments and implement effective risk control measures.
Develop, implement, and manage compliant welding safety and hot work permit programs.
Select and evaluate appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for welding and cutting operations.
Apply best practices for fire prevention, ventilation systems, compressed gas cylinder safety, and industrial hygiene.
Perform workplace welding safety inspections and recommend corrective actions to improve regulatory compliance.
Investigate welding-related incidents, determine root causes, and develop preventive action plans.
Promote a strong workplace safety culture through employee training, hazard communication, and continuous safety improvement.
Lead welding safety management programs that reduce workplace injuries, property damage, and operational risks.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry or physics OR a bachelor's degree in a closely related biological or physical science from an accredited college or university. Three (3) years of acceptable work experience may be substituted for each year of an academic degree program (i.e. Twelve years of experience is equivalent to a bachelor's degree).
